Audi e-tron Scooter Planned for Late 2020
Audi is responding to the urban trend of multi-model urban mobility by introducing an e-tron inspired scooter.
The Audi e-tron Scooter combines the practicalities of an electric scooter with the large surface area of a skateboard, which can be folded up and stored the back of a car or pulled along like a trolley. This makes it easy to be transported by car, bus or train too, weighing just 12kg.
Riders can control the scooter with their feet like a skateboard, shifting their weight. The steering handle provides stability as well as housing the battery and electronics. It also boasts a display which shows battery status. The handle’s twist grip allows riders to accelerate and brake, whilst a hydraulic foot brake provides additional safety. The scooter’s 12.5 mile range is achieved through recuperation when it brakes. Perfect for day and night, the scooter is fitted with LED lights – a headlight, daytime running light, rear light and brake light. The deck design will be offered in wood or carbon designs in grey and black.
“With the Audi e-tron Scooter, we appeal to customers who are on the move in cities, sustainably and multi-modally – and for whom style and functionality are important. Of course the e-tron Scooter also moves straight ahead. But the feeling of flow only comes when you start carving on asphalt – and that is surprisingly easy with our new concept.”
- Thorston Schrader, project manager for micro-mobility at Audi
Production and sales of the Audi e-tron Scooter are planned for late 2020. At the end of 2020, private customers will be able to buy the Audi e-tron Scooter for about 2,000 euros. A further option in the future may be to offer the e-scooter as an extra for those who buy Audi e-tron models, with the ability for it to be charged in the boot through a dedicated socket.
