Audi at One World Summit 2018

Audi recently attended the One World Summit 2018 in The Hague, the Netherlands.

The car manufacturer was there along with many committed employee and external scholarship holders to discuss concepts for improved sustainability, education and environmental protection. There were 1,500 participants from almost 200 countries in attendance from 17th – 20th October, including 30 Audi representatives.

The One Young World movement is an annual event that young leaders from all over the world attend to exchange ideas and opinions in a range of fields, including politics, business, science and culture. The Audi Environmental Foundation plans to turn selected ideas from the event into reality worldwide.

Audi’s Board of Management Member for Human Resources, Wendelin Gobel, explained “We take our social responsibility very seriously. We want to be a sustainable employer, remain competitive, inspire our customers and ensure a future worth living for everyone.”

15 people from five international Audi sites have come up with some clever ideas for more sustainability in the workplace, such as better composting of organic waste at manufacturer’s plants, optimised water cycles and new recycling concepts, as well as alternative energy concepts for living, substitutes for plastics and even a discussion about introducing an eco-currency.

Rüdiger Recknagel of the Audi Environmental Foundation, added “With our foundation, we have been actively promoting new technologies and scientific methods for a future worth living since 2009. The One Young World Summit and its committed scholarship holders focus precisely on these topics. We learn first-hand what interests the world's brightest minds and what potential they see in environmental protection. We want to seize this opportunity and support selected projects of these young creative people also over the long term.”

The 30 Audi delegates in attendance were also able to visit the production site of the new all-new Audi e-tron in Brussels before the summit started. This is Audi’s third year participating in the One Young World Summit.
