Audi Sponsors FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 2019
Audi are the proud sponsors of this year’s FIS Alpine World Ski Championships. The 45th event takes place between 4th – 17th February and as its main sponsor, Audi will be there with the Audi e-tron to help proceedings.
Audi has been involved in skiing for decades and the 2018/19 season marks the brand’s 17th year as the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup title sponsor. This is the first time since 2007 that the Championships are taking place in Åre - a Swedish resort where top skiers are set to ‘inspire the world to ski’.
Audi have made a fleet of 20 e-tron models available, while also supplying 33 e-tron vehicles to the organising committee. An Audi e-tron Power Storage charging station has been developed especially for the event, which uses a 250kW grid connection and supplies the ability to charge with a maximum power of 500kW. Spectators will also be able to get a feel for the model through the event as part of a driving experience on the nearby terrain of Åresjon lake so they can make the most of their time in between competitions.
In Åre, skiers will take part in alpine ski disciplines including downhill ski, super-G, slalom, giant slalom and super combination as well as a team contest to compete for the world championship titles. Competitors will be able to enjoy on-site transport courtesy of the comfortable e-tron shuttle fleet and also relax in the Audi Lounge after each of their final races.
For over 30 years, Audi has been the main sponsor of the German Ski Association (DSV), supporting all of the national teams. Audi also sponsors many other alpine national teams and acts as a partner at several winter sports events. Many teams also train regularly at the Audi Wind Tunnel Centre in Ingolstadt and use the Audi Driving Experience Center in Neuburg.
