Audi Teases The 2018 Q8 SUV

Audi have published teaser images and a video, teasing the reveal of their new flagship car, the 2018 Audi Q8.

Not much was revealed about this new SUV, apart from its lines that have been inspired by a coupe. Howbeit, the arrival of this tease about the Q8 means soon the full SUV will be revealed in all its splendour, most likely in a grand reveal during the upcoming summer months.

From what can be established from the vague teaser images and video, the Q8 will look very similar to the concept car that was debuted at the Detroit Motor Show in 2017. Notable features include a front-end that shares qualities with some of latest Audi vehicles; a low and wide grille as well as thin headlights. Another one of the new characteristics that can be seen on the latest Audi models, as well as the Q8 is the LED light strip which stretches across the entire rear of the vehicle. The Q8 is also expected to include the Audi 12.3-inch Virtual Cockpit display, a system that replaces many buttons with digital touchscreens.

The Audi Q8 is set to be manufactured next to its sibling, the Q7, at the brand's plant in Bratislava, Slovakia. Another quality it shares with the Q7 is its three-metre-long wheelbase, however the Q8 is anticipated to be 40mm lower to the ground. Additionally, to accommodate occupant luggage, the boot of the Q8 will be able to fit up to 630 litres of luggage.

On the concept Q8, its exterior design had a narrow rear and sloping roofline, allowing it to seat up to only 4 people. However, the Q8 that will see a general release will be able to seat up to 5, thanks to the addition of another seat in the rear. Another feature of the concept model was the e-tron plug-in hybrid powertrain, which used a 17.9kWh lithium-ion battery pack to assist the 3.0-litre TFSI engine, which allows the car to accelerate from 0-62mph in just 5.4 seconds, with a top speed of 155mph.

For those who value performance, eventually a high-performance version will become available. This Audi SQ8 will use a 4.0-litre bi-turbo V8 diesel engine, the very same engine seen in the SQ7.
