Golf GTI TCR Concept German Premiere
Volkswagen will premiere its new Golf GTI TCR Concept at the GTI Coming Home 2018 meet in Wolfsburg this weekend (1st September 2018).
This is the second year in a row that GTI fans have met in Wolfsburg for the event, with activities for the whole family to enjoy all weekend. Activities include a special GTI procession and the opportunity for attendees to drive their own GTIs through the plant where the very first GTI rolled off the production line in 1976.
The new Golf GTI TCR Concept will also receive its German premiere at the event. The model boasts a 290 PS and a top speed of 264 km/h, making it one of the fastest GTIs ever produced. The vehicle was first premiered in Austria in May but this will be its first time on German soil.
The 500 kW (680 PS) I.D. R Pikes Peak, Volkswagen’s first purely electric racing car, will also be showcased. This model has already set two racing records at Pikes Peak International Hill Climb 2018 and Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Jürgen Stackmann, Member of the Volkswagen Brand Board of Management responsible for Sales commented “Last year’s event received incredible feedback from the fans. It was really exciting! The GTI family has an amazing fan base all over the world, some of who will be travelling to our main plant. We can’t wait to say a big hello to our GTI fans!”
