ŠKODA Teases New RS Generation
ŠKODA are to to debut the next generation of the RS series during the 2018 Paris Motor Show in October with the VISION RS.
During this auto event, ŠKODA will provide a look at a future compact car by displaying the next design for the RS model range.
In a run up to this event, ŠKODA have released sketches of designs of the VISION RS to give the public an idea of what to expect. The vehicle has been precisely defined with slender headlights on the front and a diffuser and aerodynamic roof spoiler on the rear.
From the sketches that have been released, it is clear that ŠKODA are looking to bring about the next evolution of their RS series, whilst still remaining loyal to their 117 years of motor sporting. With its roots in 1974, the RS letter combination was first used on the 180 RS and 200 RS rally sports cars. Ever since 2000, the RS lettering has been used to label performance versions of ŠKODA models.
Furthermore, sketches of the interior of the VISION RS have also been released, in which a sporty and spacious cabin can be seen. Equipped with floating seats, carbon and crystal glass, the cabin also includes prominent lighting effects and motorsport characteristics. A wide instrument panel can also be seen, which features carbon elements that mirror the curves of the radiator grille in addition to special RS design animations and illuminating lighting effects. The VISION RS also uses specially cut crystal from Lasvit, a Czech glass manufacturer.
Other notable features of the VISION RS interior are a space-frame design centre console with an integrated carbon shift-by-wire operation of the DSG. Decorative components of the VISION RS include door panels and seats made from carbon and special loop-shaped door handles, all of which are typically found on racing cars.
