New ŠKODA KAMIQ Latest SUV To Join Range
The New ŠKODA KAMIQ will be ŠKODA’s third SUV on the European market, joining the line up alongside the KODIAQ and KAROQ. Its official unveiling is set to be in March at this year’s Geneva Motor Show.
The word KAMIQ comes from the language of Inuit people who live in northern Canada and Greenland and is used to describe something that fits as perfectly as a second skin in every situation. It is also the same name as a different ŠKODA SUV already established in China.
All three of the SUV’s names are inspired by Alaska, representing the sense of adventure that the ŠKODA models can offer. The KODIAQ denotes the world’s largest subspecies of brown bear, whilst the KAROQ is inspired by the world ‘RUQ’ meaning ‘arrow’ (part of ŠKODAs logo) and ‘KARAAQ’ meaning ‘car’.
As the latest urban crossover to join the range, the KAMIQ is set to be the ideal companion for both city streets and further afield. As the entry-level model, it offers the handling of a compact car with many advantages of an SUV including a high seating position for better visibility, higher ground clearance and easy access. Inside you will be able to find many new ŠKODA assistance systems and convenience features to make every drive feel stress free and comfortable, including many of ŠKODA's ‘Simply Clever’ qualities.
The ŠKODA KAMIQ world premiere will take place at the Geneva Motor Show between 5th and 17th March 2019.
