Order Books Now Open For New Touareg

As the latest milestone in Volkswagen’s largest product offensive in history, the 2018 Touareg is the flagship model of the global SUV range, which includes the new T-Roc, Tiguan and new Tiguan Allspace, as well as the models solely produced in USA and China. The SUV is expected to expand to include the T-Cross later this year and the I.D. CROZZ in 2020.

The new efficient and potent V6 turbocharged engine is being debuted with the Touareg, which will be offered with an eight-speed automatic Tiptronic gearbox and 4MOTION all-wheel drive. Initially, the Touareg will be offered with a 286PS 3.0 litre V6 turbo diesel engine, with a 231PS version being offered from Autumn. Also joining the range will be a powerful 340PS 3.0 litre V6 turbocharged petrol engine, with deliveries of that powertrain expected in early 2019.

The Touareg’s extensive towing capacity is showcased with the 286PS 3.0 V6 TDI which has a torque peak of up to 600Nm from 2,250rpm. Trailers weighing up to 3.5 tonnes can be towed by the model, with Volkswagen’s handy Trailer Assist technology making it much easier to manoeuvre. Reaching 0-62mph in 6.1 seconds, the 286PS engine accelerates to a top speed of 146 mph and offers 42.8mpg on combined cycle.

The new Touareg is now offered in three comprehensively specified trims: SEL, R-Line and new R-Line Tech. Now longer and wider than before, the Touareg measures 4,878mm long, 2,193mm wide and 1,702mm high with an impressive 1,800 litres of load space with the seats down. Luxurious and dynamic, the new Touareg looks well-proportioned, stylish and agile.

The new Touareg boasts an impressive range of the latest assistance systems, including some that are being featuring in a Volkswagen for the first time. Plus, customers can opt for a new Innovision Cockpit that offers a fully personalised intuitive digital operating, information, communication and entertainment system. The Innovision Cockpit demonstrates a new era of in-car infotainment, converging all essential comfort, assist and entertainment systems into one easy-to-use matrix.

With a new eSim mobile data connection, the new SUV is ‘always on’. Never before has a Volkswagen interior been so extensively linked to the vehicles functions and outside world. Driver assistance systems featured in the model include Night Vision, Traffic Jam and Roadwork Lane Assist, Front Cross Traffic Assist, active all-wheel steering and a new roll stabilisation system with electromechanically controlled anti-roll bars.

Offering increased comfort and plenty of space, the new Touareg has optional electrically adjustable front seats will a pneumatic massage function with 8 programs available and adjustable intensity. Thanks to the flexible rear seat system, more or less space can be created if required and the backseats can be angled by up to 21 degrees for supreme comfort.

For a bright and airy feel to the cabin, customers can opt for the panoramic sliding roof, which is the largest yet to be offered by Volkswagen. The front half of the glass roof can be continuously opened and electronically moved back by almost half a metre and raised.
