SEAT Triumphs at WhatCar? Awards 2019
SEAT has once again enjoyed a successful year at the WhatCar? Awards. The ceremony was held on 22nd January 2019 and they scooped two awards:
• Arona wins Small SUV of the Year
• CUPRA Ateca wins Sports SUV of the Year
The SEAT Arona beat tough competition to come top in the Small SUV of the Year for the second year running. The WhatCar? judges praised the model for its winning combination of cabin practicality, value for money and fun driving style. The Arona won the same award in 2018 with its 1.0 TSI 95 engine in SE Technology.
Steve Huntington, Editor at WhatCar? explained “It may be a small SUV, but the Arona has a large number of things going for it. Not only is it more practical than most rivals, but it's very well priced and feels grown-up to drive, with a settled, sophisticated ride and tidy handling.”
WhatCar?’s award winning SE Technology model is available with a fantastic specification including rear parking sensors and SEAT’s Connectivity Pack Plus, which provides an 8” colour touchscreen with Media System Plus, Sat Nav system with 3D mapping, wireless charger, two USB ports and two SD card slots.
Richard Harrison, Managing Director at SEAT UK commented “It’s no surprise to us that Arona has scooped this accolade again. It has made waves since its launch at the beginning of 2018 and was a major factor in our record sales last year, proving that consumers love it just as much as the experts.”
The Arona is now available in a choice of two petrol and two diesel engines, with either manual or DSG automatic gearboxes.
The CUPRA Ateca is the first model to be launched under the new CUPRA brand and was awarded the Sports SUV of the Year by WhatCar? thanks to its unparalleled fun factor and price compared to rivals – costing just £35,900 OTR.
This award arrives less than a year after CUPRA became a standalone brand, offering customers more performance, sportiness and design flair for enthusiasts. The CUPRA Ateca has been praised for its interior space and thrilling drive, delivering the highest performance of any SUV outside premium manufacturers with 300PS and 400N of torque from its 2.0 litre TSI petrol engine. It boasts a top speed of 153mph and can propel from 0-62mph in just 5.2 seconds.
Richard Harrison, Managing Director, SEAT UK, said: “For our new brand to win an award from What Car? is a great achievement and testament to the incredible talent and hard work of everyone involved. We knew that with CUPRA Ateca we had a special car on our hands and it’s exciting to see that recognised by one of the industry’s leading publications.”
Standard equipment on the model includes keyless entry and start system, wireless charging, 8” touch screen system, Dynamic Chassis Control and Park Assist.
