The New Audi A6 Earns Five Star Euro NCAP Rating

The new Audi A6 has been given top marks in the Euro NCAP, which is one of the most important safety tests in Europe. Now rated one of the safest cars in the business sedan segment, the A6 received the highest rating of five stars. The vehicle scored highly in all relevant criteria: protection of adult passengers, child safety, pedestrian safety, and driver assistance systems. Included in the overall NCAP assessment are the active supporting safety systems, including automatic emergency braking systems for traffic and for highways, which hold a weighting of 20%.

The large number of assistance systems make driving the new Audi A6 even safer, more convenient and more relaxing. Adaptive cruise assist enhances adaptive cruise control with a lane guidance function covering the entire speed range and includes traffic jam assist. Customers can choose to upgrade this with efficiency assist, that predictively brakes and accelerates the vehicle by analysing Car-to-X information, sensor information and navigation data as well as traffic signs. Available as standard, the Audi pre-sense front system helps avoid collisions with other vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists.

All the sensors that make the assistance systems work complement each other, and their data is incorporated into the central driver assistance controller which continuously generates a differentiated image of the surroundings. This results in the assist systems working even more precisely than ever before.

What’s more, the Audi A6 has class-topping passenger protection, as the body of the car is made from an intelligent mix of aluminium and steel, with hot-stamped steel components forming the ultra-high-strength backbone in the passenger compartment. Given the high rigidity of the structure, the vehicle has a high crash safety, sporty and precise handling and comfort on board.
