The New Volkswagen T-Cross

The new T-Cross is on its way. Set to officially launch in Autumn, here is the first look at the newest addition to Volkswagen’s SUV range. As the new entry-level offering in the segment, the T-Cross is charismatic, with front-wheel drive and plenty of functional and individual configuration options. The “I am more” slogan of the new T-Cross reflects its philosophy of offering more than others without an additional cost.

The “I am more” slogan is a cluster of four characteristics: “I am practical” – more space ad variability; “I am cool” – masculine design and maximum individuality; “I am safe" – one of the safest cars in its class; “I am intuitive” – digital and connected. Simple to drive, the T-Cross is practical yet trendy and safe. Powered by a choice of four turbocharged engines, the T-Cross is equipped with up to 18” wheels. The petrol engine variants are combined with a particulate filter, delivering either 95ps, 115ps or 150ps. The diesel option offers 95ps.

“I am cool”
The T-Cross is designed to be distinctive, with a tall front end fitted with a large grille and integrated LED headlights. At the sides, sharp and powerful lines run to the back, striking an athletic look. The muscular structure leaves a strong and confident silhouette. Customers can choose from twelve exterior colours, linking the style to the exceptionally spacious interior. The optional ‘Beats’ sound system is available for those who want to play their music loud and clear from their smartphone library or streaming service.

“I am safe”
Thanks to the modular transverse matrix (MQB), the T-Cross SUV will be launched as one of the safest vehicles in its segment. Excellent crash properties and an impressively wide range of assist systems guarantee this. Included as standard are systems such as Front Assist and Lane Assist, whilst other systems such as Blind Spot Monitor, Rear Traffic Alert, City Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Monitoring and Proactive Occupant Protection System are optional extras.

“I am practical”
There is a surprising amount of space on offer in the new T-Cross and the MWB is a key reason for this. The front axle has been moved forward, lengthening the wheelbase and thus creating more interior space and available storage areas. The rear bench seat can be moved forward or backwards, offering more legroom or luggage space as needed, from 385 to 455 litres. The seating position is higher in the T-Cross, giving a elevated view of the road.

“I am intuitive”
All the technical details of the new model have not yet been released, but the T-Cross will be offered with the optional digital cockpit with the latest-generation 8” infotainment touchscreen and Active Info Display. There will be two USB ports in the front, with another two in the back, with wireless charging ensuring optimum connectivity and sufficient power for smartphones. Keyless Access makes the T-Cross more convenient, as does the optional Light Assist, which supports the driver with main beam wherever possible.
