Volkswagen Reveal The ‘eGon’ Cutaway Model Of The e-Golf

Volkswagen revealed details of the intricate program in store for visitors at IdeenExpo in Hanover from June 15 - 23.

The cutaway model of an e-Golf, the eGon, is set to be a key highlight in the projects which are being showcased at Germany’s largest youth event for science and technology. The eGon is designed to expose the underlayer of the e-Golf, displaying all the electronics involved in the brands electric Golf alternative. The complex set up of the electrics gives visitors a close insight into the elaborate technology behind the e-Golf. The showcase will include QR codes which can be scanned via an iPad, displaying information on each individual component. Vocational trainees are also on hand to provide further information to anyone interested at the event.

“This is the first time I’ve been involved in this kind of project and I’ve learnt so much. The eGon model is very complex and required lots of different skills. Our team was made up of eight vocational trainees from different trades. We’re really looking forward to IdeenExpo and presenting our project to visitors at the event.”

Justin Pausch, Trainee Automotive Mechatronics Technician

The cutaway model is mobile and fully functional, with the exception of a few minor features. The eGon will not just be on show at the Volkswagen stand, the impressive project will also be presented on the big Stage Six in the MobilityArena and make a live appearance during the stage program at IdeenExpo.

“Projects like this encourage motivation among the vocational trainees and are great fun at the same time. They not only transfer training content, they also encourage trainees to take a high level of responsibility, to show initiative and to create something tangible of their own that they can be truly proud of.”

Christoph Görtz, Head of Vocational Training at Volkswagen

The cutaway eGon model will be showcased at the IdeenExpo in Hanover from June 15 - 23.
