Volkswagen’s New Charging Service Has Over 150,000 Public Charging Points
Volkswagen is rolling out its own charging service, named We Charge, to coincide with the launch of the ID. family of models.
Thanks to We Charge, customers will now be able to charge their electric vehicles at over 150,000 public charging points all over Europe. The We Charge charging card ensures easy access, with a choice of three tariffs and features.
We Charge Free does not have a monthly fee and is best suited to drivers who only rarely use public charging points to charge their cars. We Charge Go offers lower prices and is great for regular users of public charging points, whereas We Charge Plus is for all frequent drivers.
“As e-mobility increasingly takes to the road, public charging is becoming ever more important. With We Charge, Volkswagen is offering customers the right solution for swift, hassle-free travel in Germany and Europe – electric, eco-friendly and above all, convenient”
- Richard van Tatenhove, Head of Digital Charging Services at Volkswagen
A number of digital functions can be accessed via the We Connect ID app. The app allows users to easily and quickly locate available We Charge points, as well as giving information on charging point availability and pricing. Moving forward, the app will also give the option to show points that operate on green power.
In the next 10 years, Volkswagen plans to launch around 75 electric models throughout the group. The compact 1D.301 can be ordered from today in many European countries, whilst delivery of the limited edition 1D.31st02 will be begin in early September.
We Charge can be booked and used from mid-August and hopes to make charging as convenient as possible for electric vehicle drivers.
