Volvo V60 and XC60 To Receive Polestar Engineered Plug-In Hybrid Versions
Volvo has announced that it will be releasing Polestar versions of the V60 and XC60, set for the US market.
The models follow on from the precedent set by the Polestar engineered S60, with a 415-hp plug-in-hybrid powertrain and performance chassis modifications.
The Polestar difference is in the way they tune the Volvo’s T8 powertrain to 415 horsepower and increase the torque, plus adding software updates to help send more torque to the rear wheels and provide faster response times. The suspension has also been enhanced by pioneering brand Ohlins.
The V60 and XC60 Polestar editions will be distinguished from other models thanks to a range of special design features, including gold brake calipers, Polestar badging, a gloss-black grille trim black chrome exhaust tips. Inside, passengers will be greeted by gold seatbelts, Nappa leather upholstery and metal mesh aluminium trim panels. It will also boast a leather sport steering wheel and gear shifter.
Alexandar Lvovich, Managing Director at Volvo Car Canada, explained “At Volvo Car Canada, we are very excited about the addition of the new Polestar Engineered products in our portfolio. Polestar always played a special role in the Volvo business in Canada, as in the last two years we achieved one of the highest levels of Polestar optimized product sales in the world.”
Both V60 and XC60 Polestar models are set to be released this summer and will only be sold in limited numbers, just like the S90 Polestar was. However this time it has been speculated that the amount available will be higher and they will be available through traditional methods, rather than via the Care by Volvo subscription programme.
