SEAT Donates €100,000 to the #YoMeCorono Project Against COVID-19
SEAT has confirmed that it has donated €100,000 to the #YoMeCorono initiative to help research and develop a vaccine against the COVID-19 virus.
The #YoMeCorono project is led by Dr Buenaventura Clotet, President of the Fight against AIDS Foundation and researchers from centres in the CBIG consortium. The CBIG is made up of the CReSA Animal Health Research Centre, with extensive experience in coronavirus studies, the Barcelona Supercomputing Centre (BSC) and IrsiCaixa, and has the support of the pharmaceutical company Grifols.
SEAT has been committed for many years to promoting the health and well-being of its employees and wider society. This donation once again will help the population in a huge way. In recent months, the manufacturer has also carried out other voluntary projects including the production of emergency ventilators and facemasks. They have also given hospitals the use of up to 150 vehicles to aid the mobility and transport of medical personnel and material.
“SEAT is a supportive company committed to the health and well-being of society, which is why we are proud to contribute to COVID-19 vaccine research through the #YoMeCorono campaign. Since the beginning of this pandemic, SEAT has sought to do its part to help improve the situation during the health emergency”
- Carsten Isensee SEAY President and Vice-president for Finance and IT
“This contribution is a further step in the effort to find an effective tool to combat COVID-19. In this regard, I would like to thank SEAT for its ongoing commitment to society and the well-being of people. Together we will make it happen.”
-Dr Bauenaventura Clotet, President of the Fight against AIDS Foundation, director of IrsiCaixa and honorary member of SEAT Healthy Company Scientific Committee
In recent years SEAT has created an advanced healthcare system for its employees, opening up a healthcare and rehabilitation centre in Martorell in 2017 and more recently in Madrid. The centres perform more than 50,000 annual consultations with employees. During the pandemic the facilities have been made available to wider society to help the health system.
The #YoMeCorono crowdfunding campaign supports the research project to carry out clinical trials on new drugs, develop antibodies and vaccinate against the new virus. The project has raised more than €2.3 million so far.
