Increase In Electric Vehicles Around The UK

Over the past few years there has been a significant increase in the use of electric cars on our roads in the UK. More manufacturers are now offering a range of electric vehicles from small compact city friendly vehicles to family friendly hatchbacks and adventurous SUV models. What’s more, it has never been easier to charge whilst making journeys, recently the AA reported that there are now twice as many EV charge points than petrol stations.

The Government is aiming to ban the sale of new petrol and diesel cars by 2035, currently there are a quarter of a million electric vehicles on the UK roads with the number rising constantly, the UK is pushing to become a nation with ‘greener’ motorists.

With the increase in people using electric vehicles, the demand for public charging points has also increased over the years. Many people often worry about charging whilst they’re on the road and not been able to complete their journey in an electric car. Data released from the Department for Transport shows that there are 17,947 publicly accessible EV charging devices in the UK, 3,107 publicly accessible rapid EV charging devices in the UK compared to 8,046 fuel forecourts. There is a 61% year-on-year increase and more public charging points being installed every week to help keep up with the demand.
