About the role

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Body Shop  Operative to join our team at Caffyns Volkswagen/Skoda Eastbourne SMART Paint Centre. In this role, you will be responsible for repairing, preparing, masking, and repainting motor vehicle bodies to a high standard, including alloy wheel repairs. You will also oversee the daily operations of the body centre to ensure safety, efficiency, and the achievement of financial targets.

What you’ll do each day

  • Perform preparation and paint spraying on vehicle body surfaces and alloy wheels in accordance with manufacturer instructions and industry standards.
  • Ensure all repair and painting work meets the highest quality and safety standards.
  • Keep accurate records of hours worked, materials used, and work completed on each vehicle.
  • Monitor paint materials and notify the Aftersales Manager of any shortages.
  • Supervise the day-to-day operations of the Body Centre, ensuring a high standard of work and the achievement of financial targets.
  • Manage a team of technicians, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and safely.
  • Undertake any other tasks as reasonably requested by the Aftersales Manager.

 

You’ll fit right in and thrive in this role if you:

  • Proven experience in automotive body repairs and painting.
  • Ability to lead and supervise a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to manage time and resources effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with both customers and colleagues.
  • A good understanding of Health & Safety regulations within the automotive industry.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Ability to convey information clearly and succinctly whether verbal or written
  • Ability to work in a customer focused manner.
  • Able to persuade, negotiate and influence others
  • Able to establish effective working relationships with varied personnel.
  • Can demonstrate the ability to carry out task within set times.
  • To understand a quality repair and customer expectations.
  • Problem solving skills
