All-New Superb iV PHEV Now Available To Order
Order books have opened for the highly-anticipated All-New Superb iV plug-in hybrid.
The new model introduces the brand’s second-generation plug-in hybrid drivetrain, delivering an impressive all-electric range of up to 84 miles in E-mode – a significant increase from the previous model (up to 35 miles). As before, drivers also have the option to use the petrol engine in hybrid mode, where it works alongside the electric motor.
The Superb’s drivetrain consists of a highly efficient 1.5 TSI four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine and an electric motor with DQ400e sic-speed DSG gearbox. The petrol engine develops 150PS and the electric motor can produce 116PS. Combined, the power is an impressive 204PS.
The second-generation plug-in system’s impressive performance is thanks to the introduction of a much larger 25.7kWh pack lithium-ion battery pack. Located under the rear seats, the new pack is almost twice the capacity of the first-generation battery.
Sophisticated DC rapid charging has been introduced for the first time. The Superb plug-in hybrid can accept a DC rapid charge via a new CCS socket. The charging ports (Type 2 and CCS) have been moved from the front grille to the front wing, offering even easier access. With 50kWh, the Superb iV can be charged from 10 – 80% in just 26 minutes. When connected to an 11kW AC charger, the same charge can be achieved in around 2 and a half hours.
Three driving modes are available, accessible via the ‘Hybrid’ icon on the infotainment screen. Drivers can choose from E-mode, Hybrid mode and Sport mode to adapt the drive and how the plug-in system operates.
The All-New Superb iV is available to order in estate form with a 510-litre boot (1,770 litres with the rear seats folded) and best-in-sector legroom. Three trim level options are available – SE Technology, SE L and Laurin & Klement. The entry level SE Technology trim comes with standard specification including 17” Mintaka silver alloys, 13” infotainment display with Sat Nav, Virtual Cockpit, heated front seats and Adaptive Cruise Control.
SE L models add 18” Dofida alloy wheels, new generation LED matrix beam headlights, sports comfort seats with massage function and electrically-operated boot. The range topping Laurin & Klement trim comes with 18” Belatrix aero anthracite alloys, special L&K Suite Black with black leather interior, heated steering-wheel, heated windscreen and washer nozzles, Park Assist and an Area View camera.
