Audi celebrated 60 years of innovation in design, marking a significant milestone since the 1965 Frankfurt Motor Show.
The celebration shows a variety of models from the Audi UK heritage fleet to showcase the Audi design throughout the years. This included the Ur-quattro, TT and R8, in addition to the RS e-tron GT and the A6 Sportback e-tron.
“Design has always been a fundamental pillar of the Audi brand and core to our Vorsprung durch Technik ethos. From the original Ur-quattro, through to the timeless TT coupe and recently launched A6 Sportback e-tron, Audi’s hallmark design cues and attention to detail are visible throughout. The next chapter in Audi design will remain faithful to the past.”

‘The Audi’ Saloon made its debut at the 1965 Frankfurt Motor Show. This was a more advanced update of the F102, a model produced by DKW which had joined forces with three others to create the Auto Union GmbH each representing a ring in Audi’s widely recognised insignia.
Audi secured a more premium, upmarket positioning with the Audi 100 as the first model to be manufactured independently by Audi. This was the start of their commitment to aerodynamics. Audi’s design is expressive and visionary.
The Ur-quattro (1981) is an example of advanced road dynamics; the 2.1-litre five-cylinder 10-valve engine was adopted from the Audi 200 and continues to be used today by the 400PS RS 3 models. The TT Coupé (1999) has been cemented as an icon of automotive design with its aluminium detailing and redefining customer expectations in sports cars. The R8 (2007 and 2018) is a bold design with a short-shift gearbox. The 2018 R8 V10 RWS was the first roadgoing R8 to channel power into its rear wheels.
Audi has consistently pursued innovation for their design, engineering and technology to make their iconic models that we know today.
