Audi Presents First Supercar With Hybrid Powertrain
Audi supercar

Audi has presented their first supercar with high-performance hybrid powertrain. Introducing the Audi Nuvolari, it will be one of the fastest and most powerful production vehicles in the brand’s history and current line-up.

Featuring an impressive acceleration from 0 to 62mph in just 2.6 seconds, and reaching 124mph in only 6.8 seconds, the Audi Nuvolari has been inspired from Formula 1 with its high-performance powertrain.

“With the Audi Nuvolari*, we are accelerating technological progress. It shows what is possible when the focus is on technology, performance, and execution through teamwork — and when we achieve progress together.”

- Gernot Döllner, Chairman of the Board of Management of AUDI AG.

Following the new design philosophy, the Audi Nuvolari combines the high-performance character of a supercar with a distinctive design. With the mid-engine layout defining the vehicle's proportions, it features a monolithic volume and a powerful stance.

With Audi’s new signature colour Titanium, the exterior has been painted with the colour previously used on the Audi Concept C and Audi Formula 1 race car. The carbon elements further enhance the precise lines of the vehicle.

It’s powered by a hybrid high-performance powertrain with a maximum system output of 736kW. Combining a 4.0 litre V8 turbo engine, which delivers 588kW, and three axial flux electric motors, each producing 110kW.

“With the Audi Nuvolari*, our entire team has once again demonstrated its technical expertise, innovative strength, and dedication. This is reflected not only in the vehicle’s performance and its Formula 1-inspired technologies, but also in the ability to transfer innovations quickly and precisely into a production vehicle.”

- Rouven Mohr, CTO of Audi.

With the quattro drive as one of Audi’s most defining innovations, the Nuvolari has further developed this by defining the next generation of all-wheel drive with the quattro predictive ride. If the system anticipates a loss of grip when rounding a corner, it will respond accordingly as an integrated system.

To ensure maximum traction and control, Audi utilises the intelligent and predictive tuning of vehicles. This allows grip in various settings such as lateral and tire slip on wet or snowy roads.

Audi has combined proven Audi Space Frame technology with a carbon exterior, a first for Audi, to create a lightweight vehicle. This allows for low weight with high structural strength. Additionally, it has been further developed using Formula 1 expertise.

Active aerodynamics has been used by Audi in the Nuvolari to combine performance with efficiency. This adjusts the drag, downforce, and aerodynamic balance in response to driving conditions. The exterior also serves as an aerodynamic function from the front splitter to the rear diffuser. Audi Formula 1 drivers also assisted with the development phase of fine-tuning the aerodynamic performance.

Furthermore, the braking system for the Audi Nuvolari has also been developed to ensure maximum performance under extreme conditions. A brake inspired by motorsport encourages distribution between recuperation and hydraulic braking.

The interior of the vehicle is solely focused on the act of driving. Essential controls and functions are within the driver’s field of vision for easy access. The digital displays and physical controls ensure a natural interaction. The ergonomic design of the seats complement the driver-focused cabin by providing precise lateral support.

Deliveries are limited to 499 units and are expected at the start of 2027.
