Audi recently revealed their exciting Q6 offroad concept, a newly developed prototype featuring two electric motors with a combined power output of 380kW. The model’s newly designed portal axles mean it can climb gradients of up to 100 percent.
The concept’s debut provides a taste of how future off-road vehicles could look, boasting an increase of 160mm in right height and 250mm wider track for a more commanding presence.

Conventional portal axles enable an increase in torque of around 20 to 30 percent at the wheels whereas the new Q6 offroad concept’s design increases it by 50 percent. This means the vehicle’s top speed has lowered to 108mph but enables the model to climb gradients of up to 45 degrees.
The concept’s four portal axles were developed from scratch and are integrated into the wheel hub assemblies at the front and rear axles. The axles increase the combined torque of all wheels to 13,400Nm, a total increase of 4,400Nm.
The Q6 e-tron serves as the basis for the concept and is the first production model built on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE). The Q6 model series sets new standards for impressive driving and charging performance, as well as range and efficiency.
The Q6 e-tron offroad concept made its action debut on 1st February at the F.A.T Ice Race.
