Audi Unveils Third Generation Audi Q5

Audi has release details about the new Audi Q5, the third generation of one of Audi’s most popular SUVs.

The latest generation vehicle is the first SUV based on the Premium Platform Combustion (PPC) and will be powered by efficient petrol and diesel engines thanks to MHEV plus technology. Audi are also planning to add plug-in hybrid versions later down the line.

"The Audi Q5 has been our most successful and most important SUV model in the midsize class for more than 15 years. The new edition is a further development of its proven characteristics. As the second model in our new generation of highly efficient combustion engines, it marks the next important step in the rejuvenation of our portfolio. I am certain that the new Audi Q5, as a sporty all-rounder with a dynamic SUV design, will continue its success story."

- Gernot Döllner, Chairman of the Board of Management of AUDI AG

The new Audi Q5 sets new standards in the midsize-segment of premium SUVs thanks to its technology-orientated design and everyday practicality. With E³ 1.2 electronics architecture, Audi is integrating future-proof connectivity and digitalisation features into all new models. Three trim levels will be available: Sport, S line and Edition 1.

The model’s exterior looks sportier than ever, with a high shoulder line and sporty, wide Singleframe grille teamed with sculpted headlights offering a confident look. A clean rear design with a reduction of lines makes optimum impact and creates sleek elegance. Eleven stunning paint colours with metallic finishes are available including new Volcano Grey. Aerodynamically optimised alloy wheels come in sizes 19 to 21 inches depending on the trim.

Inside, the Q5’s cabin has been crafted to be “human-centric”, placing everything within easy reach of the driver and front passenger. Access all your infotainment needs via the free-standing Audi MMI panoramic display, which houses 11.9” Audi virtual cockpit and 14.5” MMI touch display. The infotainment system uses Android Automotive OS, with content updated via over-the-air updates

Improved head and leg room offers driver and passengers improved comfort, with fully adjustable rear seat standard from S line upwards. With rear seats folded down, the boot capacity is an impressive 1,473 litres. A larger storage compartment under the centre armrest adds even more practicality. High quality materials are used through the cabin for a sumptuous feel, including seats with diamond quilting.

Three engine versions will be available at launch, all with MHEV plus technology. The entry level engine is the 2.0 TFSI, with the 2.0 TDI also available. Both deliver 204 PS, with 340 Nm and 400Nm of torque respectively. The SQ5 features a 3.0 TFSI V6 engine, offering 367PS and 550Nm torque.

The new Audi Q5 family will be produced at the Audi site in San José Chiapa, Mexico. The partially electrified plug-in hybrid variants will also be produced at the site.
