The CUPRA Terramar marks a bold new chapter for the brand as a standout electrified sporty SUV, propelling CUPRA into the heart of Europe’s fastest-growing vehicle segment. With its challenger spirit, the Terramar has earned its place as one of the seven finalists for the prestigious Car of the Year 2025 award.
This recognition highlights the Terramar’s role in broadening CUPRA’s reach, appealing to a wider audience seeking cutting-edge design and exceptional performance. The nomination underscores CUPRA’s growing momentum, as its vehicles continue to capture the attention of the Car of the Year jury. Previously, the CUPRA Formentor was a finalist in 2021, followed by the CUPRA Born in 2022.
“The selection of the CUPRA Terramar as finalist for the Car of the Year 2025 acknowledges that the CUPRA brand is growing, getting more mature and is more certain in its identity than ever before, without ever compromising on authenticity”
- Wayne Griffiths, CEO of CUPRA
The CUPRA Terramar offers a choice of five powertrain options across three advanced technologies: TSI (petrol), eTSI (mild hybrid), and the latest generation of plug-in hybrid (eHybrid), with outputs ranging from 150PS to 272PS. The new-generation eHybrid engines in the CUPRA Terramar deliver up to 272PS (200kW) and provide an impressive all-electric range of over 62 miles, redefining efficiency and performance in the segment.
The CUPRA Terramar debuted in early September alongside the America’s Cup, under the motto "there's no second." To mark the occasion, CUPRA launched the limited “Terramar America’s Cup” edition, the official car of the competition in Barcelona. This edition features VZ powertrains: the eHybrid 200kW/272PS and the 2.0 TSI 195kW/265PS.
For the Car of the Year 2025, a jury of 60 top motoring journalists from 23 European countries narrowed 42 candidates to seven finalists. The winner will be revealed in early 2025.
