Lotus commemorated Ayrton Senna’s first F1 Victory from forty years ago during the TABAC Classic GP at the TT Circuit Assen. It was a historic victory in the Lotus 97T at the Estoril circuit in the rain. Ayrton Senna’s lead mechanic, Chris Dinnage, was behind the wheel in the black-and-gold livery for some laps on the Assen circuit during the event in honour of Ayrton Senna on the 5th - 7th September.
The victory at Estoril was one of the first of Senna’s 41 Formula 1 wins. He even considered it as one of the best victories of his career.
The Lotus 97T was one of the first to feature the aerodynamic innovations behind the front wheels for airflow conduction and was seen as a pioneering race car. The tribute at the TABAC Classic GP in Assen highlights the impressive connection between Ayrton and Lotus in Formula 1.
