Caffyns MG are celebrating a major milestone for the brand as MG continue to strengthen their commitment to customer satisfaction. In the 2026 What Car? Reliability Survey, MG were named the most improved brand, rising to ninth place overall with a reliability score of 92%.
The results represent a significant step forward for MG and reflect substantial investment in their aftersales operation, technical expertise, parts availability, customer support and dealer network.
This success was also reflected in the performance of individual MG models. The MGS5 EV was recognised as the most reliable model in the small electric SUV category, while the MG5 ranked as the third most reliable EV overall.
The What Car? Reliability Survey considers factors including faults, repair costs and the amount of time vehicles spend off the road, while also highlighting the support available to owners when issues arise.
MG’s major investment in aftersales
MG’s improved reliability ranking follows significant investment across their UK aftersales operation, focusing on parts supply, technical support, dealer training and customer care.
A new parts warehouse in Daventry, opened with XPO Logistics in November 2025, now dispatches around 2,500 orders a day, with more than 96% of parts orders fulfilled first time in 2026. Overnight deliveries also enable participating dealers to receive parts before 8am, helping technicians start repairs sooner.
MG have increased their technical workforce by 30%, including specialist ‘flying doctors’, while a new three-level technical triage system provides dealers with increasingly specialist support for complex repairs.
Longbridge training centre expands
MG have invested approximately £500,000 in the Cecil Kimber College MG Academy at Longbridge, doubling the facility to 1,000 square metres and increasing workshop ramps from four to nine.
Delegate capacity has risen from 24 to 100 per class, with more than 2,000 technician training attendances recorded in 2025. Training now also covers service advisors, parts managers and warranty specialists, while new digital diagnostic equipment is helping technicians work more efficiently.
Supporting customers
MG have expanded their mobility programme, providing eligible customers with replacement vehicles during qualifying repairs. The programme has already supported more than 3,000 customers as of autumn 2026, helping to reduce disruption and keep customers mobile while their vehicles are being repaired.
Together, these investments are strengthening MG’s aftersales support and helping deliver a faster, more reliable ownership experience.
The MG team celebrate
William Wang, Managing Director, MG Motor UK and Europe said:
“Customer care and satisfaction sit at the core of our long-term strategy. We have taken a disciplined, investment-led approach to strengthening our aftersales ecosystem – across capability, infrastructure and operational delivery – to ensure we consistently meet and exceed evolving customer expectations. The progress reflected in this year’s reliability survey is a strong external validation of that strategic focus. At its heart, this is about delivering meaningful, dependable support at every stage of the ownership journey. Our continued investment is driving faster parts availability, deeper technical expertise and robust mobility solutions that minimise disruption for customers.
“Together, these elements are building a more resilient, customer-centric support network behind every MG vehicle. We will continue to scale and refine this capability as a core competitive advantage – ensuring our customers not only choose MG with confidence but remain with us for the long term.”
