Vauxhall Announces Details For New Frontera Electric Extended Range

Vauxhall has opened orders for the New Frontera Electric Extended Range, which features a larger 54kWh battery delivering up to 253 miles of range on a single charge (WLTP). Priced from £27,495 OTR, it sits below both the UK Government’s Electric Car Grant and the Expensive Car Supplement thresholds, reinforcing Vauxhall’s commitment to making electric mobility more accessible. The Extended Range joins the expanded Frontera line-up, which now includes two battery-electric and two hybrid variants starting from £23,995 and £24,255 OTR respectively. Notably, the Frontera Electric was the first model in the UK to achieve list price parity with its petrol hybrid equivalent, and the 44kWh Design variant is now even cheaper than its hybrid counterpart.

The Extended Range variant not only offers 67 miles more driving range than the standard Frontera Electric but also comes with AAA-rated eco tyres, aerodynamic enhancements to the rear spoiler and bumper, and a revised alloy wheel design for GS models. Powered by a 113hp electric motor producing 125Nm of torque, it accelerates from 0–62mph in 13 seconds and reaches a top speed of 88mph. Charging is equally versatile, with 100kW DC capability allowing a 20–80% charge in around 28 minutes, an 11kW AC on-board charger enabling the same in 3 hours 25 minutes from a public charge point, and a 7kW home wallbox completing the task in 5 hours 5 minutes, ideal for taking advantage of off-peak energy rates. The standard Frontera Electric, available with a 44kWh battery, offers a range of up to 186 miles while maintaining the same motor output, delivering a 0–62mph time of 12.8 seconds.

For drivers not ready to make the switch to full electrification, the Frontera Hybrid incorporates 48-volt technology, combining a 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with a 21kW electric motor and an electrified six-speed dual clutch transmission, available in 100hp and 136hp versions.

Inside, the New Frontera features Vauxhall’s Pure Panel cockpit with dual 10-inch widescreen displays, a redesigned steering wheel, and physical buttons for key functions. Satellite navigation, wireless Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™, wireless smartphone charging, and natural voice recognition via the command “Hey Vauxhall” are all standard. Entry-level Design models come equipped with 16-inch black steel wheels, Intelli-LED headlights with high beam assist, and a suite of driver assistance systems including parking sensors, a rear-view camera, lane keep assist, traffic sign recognition, and driver attention alert. The optional Design Styling Pack, available for both electric and hybrid models, adds 16-inch white steel wheels, a white roof, and roof rails.

GS models build on this with 17-inch aerodynamic alloy wheels, gloss black mirrors, silver skid plates, a contrasting black roof, tinted rear windows, LED taillights, electronic climate control, Intelli-Seat front seats with a tailbone pressure relief slot, front parking sensors, blind spot alert, and an electrochromatic rear-view mirror. For added comfort and practicality, the Ultimate Pack available on Electric GS and Hybrid GS models adds heated seats, a heated steering wheel, LED fog lights, and roof rails with a 240kg load capacity.

By introducing the Extended Range variant, Vauxhall has strengthened the Frontera’s appeal, offering customers more choice and improved range.
