The new MGS5 EV sets fresh standards in the electric SUV segment, combining the award-winning qualities of the MG4 EV with advanced technology and a spacious, premium interior.
Three models are available in the MGS5 EV range: the SE Standard Range, priced at £28,495 OTR; the SE Long Range at £30,995 OTR; and the range-topping Trophy Long Range at £33,495 OTR. Every model comes with the reassurance of MG’s comprehensive 7-year/80,000-mile warranty.
Built on the acclaimed Modular Scalable Platform (MSP), the MGS5 EV benefits from a lightweight, EV-optimised chassis. Its rear-wheel drive setup, combined with a 47:53 weight distribution and rear five-link suspension, delivers an engaging and balanced driving experience.
The MGS5 EV is powered by a compact, high-performance electric drive system that produces up to 170kW of power and 350Nm of torque. Full torque is available in under 50 milliseconds, providing strong acceleration across the range. The SE Long Range model is capable of sprinting from 0-62mph in just 6.3 seconds.
Customers can choose between two battery options: a 49kWh battery for the SE Standard Range and a 64kWh battery for both the SE Long Range and Trophy Long Range variants. The 64kWh battery offers an impressive combined range of up to 298 miles in the SE Long Range and 288 miles in the Trophy Long Range. An innovative adaptive pressure control system also helps extend battery life by maintaining optimal pressure levels.
When it comes to charging, the MGS5 EV is designed to keep downtime to a minimum. The 49kWh battery can be rapid charged from 10 to 80 percent in just 24 minutes, while the larger 64kWh battery can achieve the same in only 28 minutes. Maximum DC charging rates reach 120kW for the 49kWh battery and 139kW for the 64kWh version.
Inside, the MGS5 EV offers a refined and comfortable environment, featuring high-quality soft-touch materials and stylish details such as a suede-style wireless phone charging pad. Trophy models add further luxury with dual-tone grey leather-style seats, finished with MG’s signature embossed pattern. MG’s distinctive six-sided steering wheel design, first introduced on the MG4, also features, adding a modern and dynamic touch to the cabin.
At the heart of the interior is a centrally positioned 12.8” HD touchscreen, offering enhanced graphics and faster response times for a more intuitive user experience. Alongside the touchscreen, physical buttons provide quick and easy access to key functions including audio control, HVAC, hazard lights, demisting, and a convenient home button. This combination of digital and manual controls ensures ease of use while minimising driver distraction. A 10.25” HD digital driver display completes the high-tech, user-friendly cockpit.
