Vauxhall has confirmed pricing for the new Astra Plug-in Hybrid and Astra Sports Tourer Plug-in Hybrid, which now deliver greater power and a longer electric range at no extra cost. The Astra Plug-in Hybrid GS hatchback starts from £36,145 OTR, while the Sports Tourer GS begins at £37,365 OTR, both remaining under the £40,000 Expensive Car Supplement threshold, offering notable VED savings. Significant price reductions versus the previous generation make electrified driving more accessible, with savings of up to £4,955 available on selected hatchback and Sports Tourer variants.
The latest plug-in hybrid system introduces a larger 17.2kWh battery, increasing the electric driving range to up to 52 miles (EAER) and boosting total output to 195PS and 360Nm of torque. A refined seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox enhances performance and efficiency, while drivers can choose between Hybrid, Sport and Electric modes. Charging from 20–100% takes as little as 2 hours 53 minutes using a 7.4kW AC supply with the optional upgraded on-board charger.
Both the Astra and Astra Sports Tourer Plug-in Hybrid are offered in GS and Ultimate trims, each equipped with a 10-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™, full LED headlights, adaptive cruise control and comprehensive safety systems. GS models add a black roof, 17-inch alloys, heated features and a panoramic parking camera, while Ultimate enhances comfort and technology with Intelli-Lux Pixel headlights, 18-inch diamond-cut wheels, ReNewKnit™ seating, a panoramic sunroof and Intelli-HUD.
The performance-focused Astra GSE also gains the upgraded 17.2kWh battery, delivering up to 50 miles of electric range, combined with a 180PS 1.8-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine for a total power out of 225PS. Unique suspension tuning, KONI Frequency Selective Damping and bespoke styling set it apart. Prices for the Astra GSE start from £38,795 OTR, with the Sports Tourer GSE from £39,995—both reduced by around £5,000 and remaining below the £40,000 threshold.
