Škoda is once again drawing on its rich heritage with a bold, all-electric reinterpretation of the iconic Škoda 100 – the brand’s first million-selling model. Landmark vehicles such as the original 1950s Octavia and 1930s Superb have long inspired Škoda’s modern design philosophy, and this new concept continues that tradition by shining a fresh spotlight on another milestone from its past. Originally celebrated for its simplicity, reliability and personality, the 1960s Škoda 100 has been reimagined by exterior designer Martin Paclt as a contemporary design study shaped by Škoda’s Modern Solid principles.
Rather than creating a retro-themed replica, Paclt focused on capturing the underlying spirit of the original through its proportions, stance and unmistakably clean surfacing. The result is a sleek saloon defined by generous volumes and elegant, uninterrupted lines that echo the timeless simplicity of the classic model. Modern details, including a distinctive four-element lighting signature and full-width light strips at both the front and rear, nod to the chrome accents and rear vents that made the historic Škoda 100 instantly recognisable.
One of the concept’s most striking innovations is the complete removal of the rear window. Inspired by the original car’s similarly shaped front and rear glass, this bold approach gives the rear a sculptural quality while enabling a high-mounted fresh-air intake system that subtly references the model’s rear-engine heritage. Developed initially through hand sketches and later refined using 3D modelling, the concept sits on the current Superb’s package to give it confident, well-planted proportions.
Although there are no production plans for the Škoda 100 concept, the ideas explored throughout its creation will continue to influence and inspire future Škoda projects.
