Škoda New Motorsport Concept Enyaq RS Race

Škoda Motorsport unveils the Enyaq RS Race, an all-electric racing car concept showcasing the brand's racing heritage. It supports the development of innovative technologies and sustainable materials for future production models. The lower, wider design features biocomposite parts offering the same strength and weight benefits as carbon fibre, reducing the car's weight by 316 kg compared to the Enyaq Coupé vRS.

"The Škoda Enyaq RS Race was developed completely in-house by Škoda Motorsport. Based on the Enyaq Coupé vRS production model, the car features a distinctive design with strong racing DNA, enhanced aerodynamics and excellent acceleration. In terms of sustainable solutions, the new concept car also serves as a pilot project for future innovations in series production. The biocomposite parts have led to a significant weight reduction, and we are trialling them in motorsport, including in the current Škoda Fabia RS Rally2, with a view to future implementation.”

- Johannes Neft, Škoda Auto Board Member for Technical Development

Škoda Motorsport engineers have created an all-electric racing car that closely resembles the handling and interior space of the successful Škoda Fabia RS Rally2. The brand's racing heritage and the demanding nature of motorsport drive ongoing advancements in technical innovation. Development of the Enyaq RS Race began in 2023, highlighting Škoda's commitment to electrified motorsport and a sustainable future. Based on the Enyaq Coupé vRS, this concept car features the same electric powertrain but is 70 mm lower, 72 mm wider at the front, and 116 mm wider at the rear, resulting in a significant weight reduction.

Biocomposite parts with flax fibres in the body and interior contribute to this lighter design. The concept also includes a wider chassis, redesigned bumpers, modified shock absorbers, a high-performance braking system, racing seats, and a roll cage for enhanced safety. The darkened front headlights bear the Škoda Motorsport logo and accommodate larger wheels, while the rear lights are similarly darkened. The traditional Crystal Face in the grille has been replaced with a single LED strip connecting the headlights.

Škoda Motorsport experts have upgraded several components of the Enyaq RS Race. The production brake system has been replaced with a high-performance setup featuring carbon-ceramic discs, ten-piston calipers in the front, and a new cooling system. The concept also includes a rally-style hydraulic handbrake and the pedal system from the Škoda Fabia RS Rally2.

Instead of the standard DCC suspension, it boasts a specially designed sports suspension for customisable spring stiffness, compression, and rebound settings. The 20-inch wheels come with low-profile tyres, and the two electric motors deliver a combined output of 250 kW with an 82 kWh battery, identical to the production model. While the top speed remains 112 mph, the lighter Enyaq RS Race can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in under five seconds.
