The all-electric Volvo EX90 has been awarded the title of ‘World Luxury Car’ at the World Car Awards. The seven-seat family SUV impressed the jury with its comfortable, refined interior, modern Scandinavian design and its advanced technology.
The World Car Awards jury was made up of 96 car journalists from 30 countries, who evaluated the EX90 during extensive test drives. The judges were able to experience the 510 horsepower, twin motor and ergonomic interior first hand, designed to offer exceptional long-journey comfort.
"We’re pleased to see the EX90 get the recognition it truly deserves. It was up against some tough competition, but this award proves that the EX90 appeals to some of the most demanding customers across the world."
- Håkan Samuelsson, chief executive officer of Volvo Cars
The EX90’s Scandinavian design features a confident front end with rounded edges, with uniquely shaped LED headlights creating an exciting contrast. Flush elements such as side glazing not only improves aerodynamics and efficiency but looks modern and ready for action.
Inside, drivers can enjoy a peaceful driving experience as its one of the quietest in the segment. Nordico leather-free upholstery provides an elegant look as well as sustainability – made from recycled materials and bio-attributed material from forests in Sweden and Finland. Ambience on-board is guaranteed thanks to interior LED technology reproducing a light spectrum close to natural sunlight, and a back-lit wood décor. Due to it’s a seven-seat configuration, there is surprisingly ample trunk space of 342 litres, or up to 697 litres with the third row of seats folded.
The EX90 reflects Volvo’s dedication to safety, featuring lidar technology combined with cameras, radars and ultrasonic sensors to provide a detailed image of what’s going on around the car. The lidar is integrated into the centre of the roofline under a low-profile cover, creating a seamless solution and maximising aerodynamics.
With this new title, Volvo Cars has not now three World Car Awards, including the 2018 World of the Year for the Volvo XC60 and 2024 World Urban Car for the Volvo EX30. In 2018, Volvo Cars CEO Håkan Samuelsson was the inaugural winner of the World Car Person of the Year award.
