Volvo's Impressive Upgrades On The 2026 EX90
Volvo 2026 EX90

Orders are open for the upgraded 2026 EX90 which features enhanced software. It is powered by the new 800-volt electric system which ensures faster charging. Safety is enhanced with the improved computer core upgrade which includes safety alerts for slippery roads, hazards and accidents ahead, and the integration of automatic e-call with Emergency Stop Assist.

If the driver fails to respond to the attention or hands-off warning then the Emergency Stop Assist will bring the car to a stop. Once stopped, the e-call will connect the car with an emergency call centre linked to Volvo Cars which will be able to speak to the passengers and contact emergency services in case of a sudden illness.

Volvo Cars will utilise a dual NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Orin-based core computer to push safety and performance.

There is a one-time free upgrade for the 2025 EX90 with a scheduled workshop visit.

“The additional computing power enables us to harness the power of AI, data and software to further enhance safety and overall performance of the EX90. This means we can provide our customers with advanced safety and driver support features, along with continuous improvements to the infotainment and battery management systems – all delivered seamlessly over the air.”

- Anders Bell, chief technology & engineering officer at Volvo Cars

It will reduce heat generation during charging to enable faster charging speeds. The smart algorithm from the battery management software is used together with the 800V system to improve charging, adding up to 250km of range in just 10 minutes.

The 2026 EX90 will also feature an electrochromic panoramic roof which enables you to adjust the glass transparency.
